Jacobson Golf Course Design, Inc. (President)

As President of Jacobson Golf Course Design, Inc. Rick Jacobson has been actively involved in the Design and Construction of Golf Courses for over 28 years. Upon graduating from the University of Wisconsin in 1980 with a degree in Landscape Architecture, he worked briefly with a Chicago based Landscape Architecture firm involved with Design/Build projects. From then on, Mr. Jacobson has been continuously employed with some of the premiere organizations in the Golf Industry.

Rick's Golf Course Design career began with Packard, Inc., a Golf Course Architecture firm based in Chicago. Rick was exposed to all aspects of Design and Plan Document preparation from the outset. Upon completion of Plan Documents for the Riverside Club in Dallas, Texas, Rick (through a joint agreement) went to work for Wadsworth Golf Construction Company to be involved with the implementation of the Packard Design. Wadsworth, who was voted for three years in a row as Golf Course "Builder of the Year" by Golf Course News' Annual Survey of Architects, provided Rick with the knowledge of quality materials and techniques used in construction to develop some of the finest golf courses in the world.

Upon completion of the Riverside Club, Rick returned to the office of Packard, Inc. to apply this new found knowledge on future projects. As Design Associate, he played an integral role in the planning, design and implementation of several projects.

In July of 1985, Rick accepted a position with Jack Nicklaus Golf Services as Assistant Designer. From the outset, he was exposed to world class projects, initially in the role of producing plan documents and eventually as Design Associate.

Rick's first project with Jack Nicklaus Golf Services was the preparation of plan documents for the Renegade Course at Desert Mountain. Upon completion, he was transferred to the Corporate Offices in North Palm Beach, Florida where he was rapidly promoted to Design Associate. As Design Associate for Jack Nicklaus Golf Services, Rick was involved with many prominent projects in the U.S., Europe and Asia.

In November of 1991, Rick formed Jacobson Golf Course Design, Inc. based on his firm belief that "only organizations that deliver a quality product with uncompromised service will endure". Rick is a member of the American Society of Golf Course Architects as well as the American Society of Landscape Architects. Rick was recently recognized for the #1 Golf Course Design in China 2009 by China Golf Magazine and 2007 Architect of the Year by the National Association of Private Clubs and Directors for his Renovation Work. Several of his award winning projects include: Sunset Ridge C.C. was voted #1 Renovation of the Year (Private Club) by Crittenden Golf Inc. Magazine, Augustine Golf Club, Stafford, Virginia – selected as one of Golf Digests' Best New Upscale Courses and Top 100 Public Golf Courses by Golf Magazine and the renovation of Des Moines Golf and Country Club for the record breaking 1999 U.S. Senior Open.
