Richard Mandell Golf Architecture (Aborist, Author, Blogger, Radio Personality & Teacher)

ARBORIST - AUTHOR - BLOGGER - RADIO PERSONALITY - TEACHER
Richard Mandell's dedication to the game of golf runs deeper than his primary avocation of golf architecture. His insight into the game from a design perspective has afforded Richard the opportunity to accomplish much more in the industry.
Richard graduated from the University of Georgia with a Bachelors degree in Landscape Architecture. His years with Dan Maples Design and Denis Griffiths & Associates exposed him to high-end domestic and international work in an apprenticeship with two of the best in the business, both former American Society of Golf Course Architects Presidents. Richard has a strong knowledge of civil engineering, acquired in his previous venture with Whole In One Design Group. As a Principal of Whole In One Design Group, he was lead architect on many projects where the environmental work and civil engineering were completed by Whole In One Design Group in-house.
Richard's work has been nationally recognized for his Creekside Golf & Country Club in Atlanta, Georgia with a nomination for Best New Course in both Golf Digest Magazine and Georgia Golf News. His expansion of Seaford Golf & Country Club won the 1996 DuPont North America Safety, Health, and Environmental Excellence Award.
ARBORIST
In addition to being a licensed Landscape Architect in both North Carolina and South Carolina (one of less than ten percent of all candidates nationwide to pass the complete landscape registration exam on the first attempt), Richard Mandell is most likely the only golf architect in the world who is also a certified Arborist.
AUTHOR
A noted golf architecture historian, Richard Mandell has appeared in and written articles on design for national publications like Golf Illustrated and Links Magazine. He has also provided chapters in three separate anthology books on golf architecture. Richard Mandell's seminal work, Pinehurst ~ Home of American Golf (The Evolution of a Legend) won the prestigious International Network of Golf Book of the Year Award (2007). The book was a finalist for both Foreword Magazine's Book of the Year Award and the United States Golf Association Book Award as well.
BLOGGER
In addition to his print writing, Richard also pens a golf architecture blog for The Washington Times which has become a platform for a grass-roots movement to return the game of golf to its origins. In the process, the goal is to re-capture those special elements of golf design and the game which have gone missing over past decades.
RADIO PERSONALITY
Recently Richard has expanded his reach on the world of golf course architecture as a show regular on “Tee Time with the Professor and Les” on WEEB – 990 AM radio. Along with television legend John Derr and current Champions Tour player, Pat McGowan , Richard discusses the game of golf every Monday morning.
TEACHER
Since 1997, Richard has taught one of the only fully accredited, professionally taught classes on golf course architecture at North Carolina State University. With well-rounded experience, knowledge of the profession, and ability to communicate so documented, Richard Mandell Golf Architecture is well qualified for any golf course design project set forth.
