He has carried this philosophy and fulfilled his mission throughout the world over the past 35-years, having designed more than 250 courses.

His early years were spent in apprenticeships with Dick Wilson, Joe Lee and Robert Trent Jones, Sr.

Many of his designs have been selected as sites for the PGA, Senior PGA, Canadian and European Tour events.

Golf course design is not only a part of Garl’s life, it is the focal point. As a player, he still maintains a low single-digit handicap while spending more time on a golf course without a club in his hand than most people. He was a successful junior player and was a member of the University of Florida golf team. He is extremely active in the golf community as he serves as the president of the Florida Golf Alliance and is one of the founding board members of the International Network of Golf. Garl also co-authored The Urban Land Institute’s book on ‘Golf Course Development in Residential Communities.

Garl graduated from of the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Science degree specializing in turf grasses. In May of 2003, Ron received the university’s Distinguished Alumnus Award in recognition of the honor and prestige that he has brought to his alma mater through his accomplishments and service.

Garl gained acclaim for his environmental work at the Indian River Club in Vero Beach, Florida. The course became the first in history to be awarded Audubon International’s highest award, Audubon Signature Cooperative Sanctuary Status on opening day. Garl believes that a great course must enhance the natural terrain and coexist with its environment.

Always with an eye on the future, Garl has been an innovator in designing state of the art practice facilities. “I realize that golf is the hardest game in the world,” he says, “and for people to enjoy it properly, they have to improve. We want to help them to improve, play more and receive complete enjoyment from it.”

A high percentage of RMG projects are for repeat clients. Mr. Garl believes this is a strong testimony to his quality designs and the ability to meet clients' goals and objectives.

Ron Garl Golf Design is currently working in China, Thailand, Bahamas, Colombia, Panama, Costa Rica, Morocco, Nigeria, Czech Republic, Dominic Republic, Puerto Rico, New Orleans, LA; and Florida.
