How To Change The Title Of An Article
Sometimes the value of article can be improved simply by changing it's title. This article tells you how to do that and why, in some cases, you may also want to change the actual topic name (displayed in your browser's address line at the top of the screen). #Wikiwords While it may seem slightly confusing at first, each article has two names that could be called it's "Title."- The TopicTitle form field is the article title that is displayed. It can contain any mix of letter cases and punctuation.
- The Topic Name is actually part of the web address for the article (i.e., the URL). This name cannot include any punctuation and should be a WikiWord. An important use of the topic name is for creating links. If you type an article's topic name in some other article, GolfBizWiki automatically creates a link from that other article to the article whose topic name you typed.
Steps
To change the Article Title : - Go to the article. Open the text editor (click on the Edit icon (pencil) to the right of the article's title).
- Click on the "Form" tab (top left in text editor) to edit the article's organizational information.
- Type the article's new title in the TopicTitle field.
- Click on "Save" button in lower left of text editor.
- Hover you cursor over the wrench icon to the right of the article's title and select (click) "Rename or Move topic."
- Change the WikiWord topic name. Don't change the web (from the drop-down menu). Don't select any of the other checkboxes.
- Click "OK".
- If the article has an associated discussion topic (you can tell this by if there are comments listed in the "Discuss" tab), rename the discussion topic to match the new article topic name. The discussion topic is named the same as the article but has "Discuss" appended to the end. Repeat these steps to rename the discussion topic to match the new topic name plus "Discuss". If you've properly renamed the discussion topic, the comments will show up under the "Discuss" tab.
Tips
- Keep titles and topic names short but descriptive.
- Topic names should be as short as possible (but at least two words) and be easily remembered to make it easier to remember for making links.
- Use the "Summary" field to provide descriptive information about the article's content.
Warnings
- For topic names, use WikiWords. Avoid single-word topic names.
