Create a NGF Business Member Profile

This article gives step-by-step directions for creating a NGF Business Member Profile. The profile is your business "advertisement" on GolfBizWiki. It gives a short summary of your business and lists your company's GolfBizWiki authors and their articles.

You must be a GolfBizWiki registered user to create a business profile.

To create a NGF Business Member Profile

Entering the Profile Information

  1. From the Golfbizwiki home page, click on the “NGF Business Members” link under Community in the left column.
  2. The NGF Business Members Directory appears. Below the directory, type in your business name in the Create New Business Member Profile section. Then, click the “Create Business Member Profile” link.
  3. The “Member Details” tab is displayed. Fill in the fields with your business information. Skip the Logo initially; enter your text information first.
    • For Business Categories, click the + sign by the word “Function.” The list of business categories appears. To select a category, click on it. It becomes highlighted. You can click more than one category, as relevant to your business. When finished selecting categories, continue on to another member detail or save your business details by clicking the “Save” link at the bottom of the screen.
  4. Click the “Save” button at the bottom of the screen. Your basic business profile is complete.
Note: If you want to edit the business profile, click on the Edit icon at the top right of the business member profile page.

HELP You do not enter the names of the authors that will write articles for your business. The names will be added automatically after an author writes an article (assuming he/she has created a personal page and entered the business name exactly as you entered it in the business name field when you created the profile.) However, after the author has written his/her first article, you will need to "approve" him/her as a company author. To do that, you simply go to your company profile page, then click the Edit icon at the top right of the business member profile page. When the business details editing page appears, scroll down to Authors. Find the new author's name and click the check box next to it. The checkmark that appears indicates the author is approved and his/her articles will be listed in your company's Sponsored Articles and the author will be listed in the Meet Our Authors tab. (GolfBizWiki automatically generates the list of articles written by your company's approved authors.) Should an author no longer be employed by your company or you want his/her articles disassociated from your company for some reason, "uncheck" his/her name in the approved author list.

Adding a logo

HELP To display your business logo at the top of your profile, you first need to have have a copy of your logo image saved on your computer. Files should be .jpg and small (under .5 meg or 500 kb).

To add your logo to your profile:

  1. If you are currently editing your profile, click "Save" button at bottom of screen to review to normal view.
  2. Click the attach icon in the top right corner of the screen to “attach” your logo to your business profile.
  3. Use the Browse button to locate the logo file on your computer/network.
  4. Click the “Upload file” button. You will be returned to the normal view of your profile.
  5. Click on "Edit" link at top of screen. You should now see your logo displayed. Click on the radio button by your logo to have it displayed in your profile.

Adding Images, PDF's or Other Media to Profile or Product Description

To learn how to add various media to your Business Member Profile, first familiarize yourself with general guidelines for adding images and other media to topics by reviewing How to Add Images or Video to Articles.

The only additional information that you need to know regarding adding uploaded images or files to your profile is this:

  • When you "attach" the file to your topic, check the box that says "Create a link to the attached file at the end of the topic."
  • Next, edit your topic and click on the "Permissions" tab at top of edit screen. Below the permissions listing, you'll see a formatted link to your uploaded image or file. Copy or Cut this text then click on the "Member Details" tab and then paste the text into whatever field where you want it displayed (e.g. "Business Member Profile" or "Products and Services").

Setting Permissions

If you want to give permission to other employees to edit the business profile information, click on the Permissions tab at the top of the screen. In the second line of text, you will see your name. Click right after your name, type a comma and space (", "), and then add the person's WikiName (first and last name, capitalized, with no spaces). If you are not sure of the persons WikiName, find it on the GolfBizWiki Members page. Repeat for all the people to whom you want to give editing permission, separating each by comma and space.
